Covey and Holisme
Also the late Stephen Covey speaks about the complete human being in his book ‘The Eighth Habit’, which, according to Covey, consists of four dimensions: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If these dimensions are translated in the world of professionals, it will lead to the following.
| dimension | human being | organisation |
| physical | body | The product you make or uses (Property,IT) |
| mental | thoughts | Policy (management) |
| emotional | feelings | People (behaviour, culture) |
| spiritual | soul, dreams | Identity (vision, mission) |
And the interaction and the relationship between these dimensions are important, because the holistic practitioner takes the elements as a whole as a starting point.
Therefore, apart from in the ‘ordinary’ forms of energy, a holistic approach means including also the special forms of energy in your considerations and decision making. A holistic approach therefore requires from the professional that he is willing to get off the beaten track.
