Coming out as a holistic lawyer

Based on my role as mediator and founder of the Divorce Café, I recognized the need for legal assistance aimed at problem solving, which extends beyond merely money or possessions. That’s why in the past years I have developed into an expert on Holistic Practice. I have spoken with professionals in the US who are engaged in spiritual divorce, integrative law and holistic forms of the legal profession, and have discovered that I am not the only person who wants to solve conflicts in this manner. It is my dream to apply the HUB as a source of knowledge and inspiration and to promote the movement for professionals and the public in the Netherlands.

No one likes to appear before the court. So, we don’t do that anymore in the 21st century

I think it is of the utmost importance that together we realize that one-ness, working together and sharing is a much better starting point to settle disputes when compared to a battle. People have relationships with one another, emotions from the past play a part and have given rise to the conflict, in most cases it is much more important to heal these aspects instead of having your eye on being in the right or on the money.

Dualism does not help you to get through a divorce in a good way. How can you only fight about money in such a familiar and family-related reorganisation? Or apply the criterion of right or wrong?

BLOG: Coming out as a Holistic Lawyer

That I would come out because I want internally to be synchronic with what I show on the outside. My approach in the divorce law practice has been holistic for years (since 2005), however, I have never plugged or propagated it as such.
